Website Back on track!
Hi all, sorry that I have parked this site for so long but I'm delighted to say it's back on track! Just a few lines to tell you what has been happening over the last couple of years!!!
Recordings: As well as In Transition which I put out at the back end of 2014, I have recorded as a guest on some lovely albums including a new album for Ronnie Greer which will be released in May this year. I am also a guest on the new albums by ExMagician - Scan the Blue, UK Saxophonist Sarah Chaplin's Firehorse, Dana Masters' new EP Crossing Lines, Amanda St John's Grow and a new recording soon to be released by Edel Meade.
Ulster University: That's right, I became a Doctor of Music from Ulster University Magee in 2015 under the guidance of Professor Frank Lyons and followed that up by accepting a Full-time post in the Music Department there as Lecturer of Music. It is a fabulous environment to work and is a Golden Nestegg of raw and trained talent who are going to change the face of the music industry in Northern Ireland and farther afield forever..
Gigs and Tours: As usual it has been a busy time. My album band completed a Northern and Southern Ireland tour in 2015 and I also did a number of European gigs with the Adrienne West Hammond Orkestra which is based between Holland and Germany, an Irish tour with fabulous Belfast vocalist Orla Murphy, and am privileged to work as Trumpet player with Paul Dunlea's All Ireland Big Band, Belfast songwriter Brian Houston and Blues legend Ronnie Greer. Many of my jazz performances are in partnership with Belfast jazz pianist Scott Flanigan and we have a regualr quartet gig with Trevor England, Jack Kelly and Rebecca Montgomery in the John Hewitt on Monday nights from 9pm. I am also back playing with the Commitments and also seperately Andrew Strong and have formed a Supercool function band, the 'Mardis Gras' which as well as dressing in shocking electric blue suits...plays New Orleans and funk versions by such luminaries as Guns'n'Roses, Pharrell Williams and Bruno Marrs!!!! It's all happening, hope to see you at a gig soon!
Radio Ulster: Still all happening...'Jazzworld with Linley Hamilton' every Friday night at 10pm and 'Playing for a Living'...seasonal!
